From bbair at cse.ohio-state.edu Mon Apr 2 19:32:33 2007 From: bbair at cse.ohio-state.edu (Bettina Bair) Date: Mon Apr 2 19:32:41 2007 Subject: [ACM-W] Meet Smart People ... like you! Message-ID: <5d1a6f030704021632s3dd68c90p72ca101310cfe36@mail.gmail.com> Mensa International is the largest, oldest, and best-known high-IQ society in the world. The organization restricts its membership to people with IQs within the top 2% (98th percentile) of any approved standardized intelligence test. Since you are a smarty pants Computer Science major, you may already be qualified for membership in Mensa. You don't even have to take an IQ test. American Mensa accepts test scores from approximately 200 different standardized intelligence tests, including many college prep tests that you probably have already taken, including SAT, ACT, Stanford Binet, Otis-Lennon, Naglieri, Wechsler Adult & Children Scales, and GRE. You can see if your test score qualifies you, by looking at this table: http://www.us.mensa.org/Content/AML/NavigationMenu/Join/SubmitTestScores/QualifyingTestScores/QualifyingScores.htm During the month of April, Mensa will waive its usual $40 fee to evaluate test scores for admission to Mensa. So you could be a member in time to enjoy Mensa events and activities this summer. To send in your test scores, follow the instructions on the home page: www.us.mensa.org If you ever have questions about Mensa, you can ask me (yeah, I'm a smarty pants, too). Or you can email them (info@americanmensa.org), or call Membership Director, Paige Faulkner at 817/607-0060 x199. Good luck! :-) Bettina -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Sadly, I just got news that Karen Sp?rck Jones died this morning. Please forward to as many women as you know. (apologies for the duplicate posting some of you will receive.) ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Ballam, Deb Ballam.1@osu.edu A few weeks ago we set up a means by which folks could register their standing locations on the website. If you haven't looked at it lately, take a look under the link See Where Others Are Standing < *www.standingwomen.org *>. We now have listings for 20 countries and 45 of the U.S. states. The list continues to grow each day and by May 13 we expect to have listings for all 50 states and many more countries. Some of the listings are for individuals but others are for groups, sometimes involving hundreds or even more than a thousand people ( e.g., the woman who sent the info for the Belgium site told me that hundreds of women will be there, and the San Francisco Bay area panhandle site is expecting thousands as is one of the sites in South Florida). We hope you will stand with us, and invite others you know around the world to stand with us. And, please do register your standing location on the website. It is very easy to do. If you prefer, you can send the standing site to me and I will register it for you. Thanks for all your help with this project. It is going to be an amazing day! Deb Deborah A. Ballam, Ph.D., J.D.
