*TECH CORPS Ohio is hiring Two (2) Technology Instructors for its new Summer
Technology Camp in partnership with Lead the Way. This is a great
opportunity to impact the lives of our children in a positive way. If you
are or know of someone that might be interested in this opportunity - please

*Technology Camp Instructors:*
TECH CORPS Ohio is in search of two instructors to lead its new Technology
Summer Work Camp for high school students with physical, sensory and
learning disabilities. The 8-week Summer Camp allows students (ages 14-18)
the opportunity to increase their academic, occupational, and basic
work-readiness skills. This program will give students a chance to discover
their interests and talents through hands-on, activity packed, learning
sessions. This camp will not only expose participants to information
technology topics but will also place an emphasis on assistive technology.
(Assistive technology enables people with disabilities to accomplish daily
living tasks; assists them in communication; and provides greater access to
education, employment, and recreation.)
*Technology Summer Work Camp Goals:*
- Motivate students to explore their own interests and potential in
technology;
- Encourage those interested in technology-related careers to aim for
college and a degree in their chosen field;
- Expose students to the use of assistive technology;
- Help students with disabilities become independent, productive
members of the growing technology driven workforce.
This position requires patience and the ability to work with students at
different levels of understanding; flexibility and willingness to calmly
handle unforeseen challenges; a desire to learn about different technologies
that help people with disabilities use computers; strong understanding of
Windows operating system and applications; as well as experience with:
digital cameras, scanners; photo editing software; internet search engines,
Google (email and blogs), and Second Life. Candidates with experience in an
educational or after-school setting are ideal.
*This is a temporary contract position from June 18, 2007 to August 10,
2007. *Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 12:30pm.* *Class size: 25
students. Pay: $15/hour. Location: TECH CORPS Ohio Computer Lab located in
the St. Paul AME Health and Wellness Center, 112 Jefferson Avenue Columbus,
Ohio 43215.
