University Telecounseling Program


Telecounselors act as a liaison between the university and prospective
students, marketing the benefits of an Ohio State University education.
This interaction typically occurs over the phone and via email.
Telecounselors proactively recruit the next generation of Buckeyes.  The
Office of Admissions sees Telecounseling as one of the strongest arms of
recruitment.  The position is both an honor and a responsibility.

Telecounselors are expected to be knowledgeable, professional, and sincere
each time they interact with prospective students and their parents, whether
during a phone call, email, or in person.  Other expectations include:

   - Working at least 2 nights a week (5-9 M-R) and 2 Sundays per month
   (approximately 9-13 hours per week)
   - Attending Monday staff meetings
   - Commitment to Ohio State
   - Ability to represent the University in a positive manner
   - Excellent verbal and written communication skills
   - Strong work ethic and desire to set and achieve goals
   - Satisfactory academic progress
   - Ability to work in a team-oriented atmosphere

Telecounselors are paid $8.10 an hour and are eligible for merit based
raises every 3 quarters.  Telecounselors are paid for training and Monday
meetings.  Telecounselors are occasionally asked to do volunteer work for
special Admissions-related events.

*Telecounselors are required to have 2.5 GPAs.   Signing this application
grants the Telecounseling coordinator permission to verify your academic
standing.  A completed application includes:*

brown.1895 at osu.edu or dropped off at the Office of Undergraduate Admissions
located on the ground level of Enarson Hall, 154 W. 12th Ave.  If there are
