The 2009 Ohio Celebration of Women in Computing (OCWIC)
<http://ocwic.org/> will
be held February 27 - 28, 2009 at the Mohican Resort and Conference
Center<http://www.mohicanresort.com/> located
near Perrysville, OH. Attendees will be women majoring in computing fields
from universities and colleges all over Ohio as well as women teaching and
working in computing careers.
OCWIC is an opportunity for young women to explore opportunities in IT, to
network with other young women and to meet possible mentors. OCWIC hopes to
encourage women to complete their studies in computing by exploring careers
and meeting women leaders from business, industry and academia.
We invite the submission of proposals for participation in the following
session categories:
- *Presentations* – If you have been involved in a research project,
internship, co-op, service-learning, or other interesting experience related
to computer science or information technology, this is an opportunity to
share that experience with others and perhaps inspire them to pursue similar
opportunities. Please submit a one-page description (abstract) of your talk.
- *Career Discussions* – If you have a passion for your career, consider
participating in a session that will allow you to share your career
development journey with student attendees. Women from business and
industry, as well as academia, are needed. If you would like to participate,
send a brief bio, a description of your current position and a synopsis of
your talk.
- *Posters* - Have you worked on an interesting project at school? It's
easy to do a poster. Share your ideas and experiences with others. Please
send a one-page description (abstract) of your project or research.
To submit an abstract, go to http://www.ocwic.org/submit. You may view the
programs from previous OCWIC Celebrations using the links to previous OCWIC
meetings listed under the "Previous Meetings" heading in the left sidebar.
Submissions due by Monday, November 24th, 2008. Participants notified by
December 22, 2008.
If you have question, please contact Dr. Jodi Tims, Program Chair, at
jltims at bw.edu.
