Hi everyone,

We had a really great turnout at our first meeting last week, but for those
of you who couldn't make it, here is a summary:

1) *Game Tournament*
We got a list of all the video, board and card games people were interested
in seeing at our big game tournament this quarter. We also got a list of the
kind of gift cards people want to win. If you would like to request a game,
or *if you have a console or game you'd be willing to loan us for the
day*please send me an email.

2) *Student Interest Workshops*
We're going to be running workshops based on topics you guys want to learn
about. Suggestions we have so far include tech elective options, web
development classes, game development classes, grad school, textbook
recommendations, Python, PHP, and more. *If there's something you want to
learn about* (classes, jobs, minors, research, columbus life, whatever),
send me an email and I'll see what we can do. If there isn't enough interest
to hold an entire workshop, I'm sure one of our officers can hook you up
with some resources. We might even be able to put up answers on our website
in an FAQ section.

3) *Volunteer Opportunity*
We're getting a group together to volunteer with FreeGeek Columbus (
http://freegeekcolumbus.org/). Volunteers will show up for a shift (probably
2 hours, one day a week depending on interest) and help local Columbus
residents build computers or sort donated computers. No hardware experience
is necessary. This is a good opportunity to put some volunteer experience on
your resume, and get some hardware experience under your belt. I will send
out an email asking for volunteers soon.

4) *Employer Visit*
2Checkout (http://www.2checkout.com/community/) is going to be making a
visit this quarter and taking applications for interns. 2Checkout is an
e-commerce solution company that was started by OSU graduates in 1999. I
will send out an email when I have a specific date and room. Here is one of
those great employment opportunities I've been talking about. They're
looking specifically to hire ACM-W members, and you didn't even have to roam
around a career fair in a suit to find them.

5) *New Officers
*We have a few new officers this year, as well as some old officers who have
changed their roles. Here is the current list:

Advisor: Paul Sivilotti
President: Stacey Laugel
Vice President: Anushree Dwivedi
Webmaster: Jamie Colley
Treasurer: Elizabeth Leggett
Secretary/Photographer: Lauren Sapharas
Fundraiser: Bina Patel
Publicist: Laura Tufts

*If you are interested in being an officer*, the Caterer position is still
available. The Caterer is in charge of getting food and drinks for our
meetings and events. They will need to be responsible with money since they
will be spending our organization's funds. One thing to consider is that
current officers get first pick of positions for next year, so if you are
the Caterer this year, you might end up being President next year.

If you have other talents and *want to create your own officer position*,
send me an email and let me know what you have to offer. Any skills
(songwriting, decorating, etc.) could probably be turned into cool
positions.

6) *Website*
The 3 year old website is being overhauled and replaced with something much
sleeker and cooler thanks to our new Webmaster Jamie. In the meantime, bear
with us during the transition. If you have any suggestions on things to add,
send Jamie an email at colley.26 at osu.edu.

Thanks to everybody who came last week, and I hope I can meet the rest of
you soon!

Stacey Laugel
ACM-W President
