To:
Greetings,
Several of the opportunities listed below have student scholarships.
The listings are in order by application deadlines, by the way.
Information of this nature is sent to the members of the Empowering
Leadership: Computing Scholars of Tomorrow Alliance (EL Alliance),
which is supported by the National Science Foundation. The EL
Alliance is a national network of individuals and institutions
committed to the success of minority scholars, and offers information
about opportunities, mentoring, conference participation, and much
more.
If you're already a member of the EL Alliance, wonderful! If not, and
you'd like to join, visit the Website below. General messages of this
nature will not be sent to the broader community on a regular basis.
That is, if you want to continue to receive updates, and also learn
more about the EL Alliance, sign up at the Website!
All best,
Ann Redelfs, ELA Co-Program Manager

This Virtual School summer school will provide graduate students with
knowledge of the challenges, opportunities, techniques, and evolving
resources for scaling science and engineering codes onto petascale
computing systems. High-definition streaming video of the course will
enable students to participate from multiple locations, including the
University of Illinois' National Center for Supercomputing
Applications (NCSA), the National Institute for Computational Sciences
(NICS) in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, the University of Michigan, and
Louisiana State University. Participating students will have access to
high-performance computing systems at NCSA, NICS, and the Texas
Advanced Computing Center.

http://www.greatlakesconsortium.org/events/manycore
Students will be provided with knowledge and hands-on experience in
developing applications software for many-core processors, such as
general purpose graphics processing units (GP-GPUs). High-definition
streaming video of the course will enable students to participate from
multiple locations, including the University of Illinois' National
Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA), the University of
Michigan, Ohio State University and the University of Illinois,
Chicago.

This workshop is aimed at increasing the involvement of individuals
who have been traditionally underrepresented in the HPC field. The
purpose of this workshop is to expose participants to and inspire them
with new techniques, teaching materials, and applications to use
computational models in the undergraduate curriculum. By bringing
faculty from different disciplines together so that they can learn how
to incorporate computational models into their classrooms and research
projects, it will advance the use of computing in undergraduate
science education. We desire to have participants from a broad range
of disciplines, including computer science, mathematics, and the
natural sciences.
