*Students* - OCWiC is *your* conference. You build it by submitting your
proposals for talks, panels and posters. OCWiC is a great venue to discuss
your research with a broader audience or gain more experience doing
presentations. *It looks good on a resume too.*
*Faculty* - You can (and should) submit proposals too. And, if you have
women students, grad or undergrad, this is a great mentoring opportunity.
You can help them to prepare a paper or poster proposal for submission.

* The Ohio Celebration of Women in Computing
(OCWIC)<http://www.cse.ohio-state.edu/ocwic/index.html>will be held
February 16 - 17, 2007 at Deer
Creek Resort and Conference Center <http://www.visitdeercreek.com/> located
near Mt Sterling, OH. Attendees will be women majoring in computing fields
from universities and colleges all over Ohio as well as women teaching and
working in computing careers.
OCWIC is an opportunity for young women to explore the opportunities in IT,
to network with other young women and to meet possible mentors. OCWIC hopes
to encourage women to complete their studies in computing by exploring
careers and meeting women leaders from business, industry and academia.
We need volunteers to: Discuss careers!
What led you to your career? What do you do in your job? We need women from
business and industry, as well as academia, to talk about why they chose IT,
their experiences in IT and the opportunities for women in IT. There will be
formal (panels) and informal opportunities to share your experiences with
the students. If you would like to volunteer, send a brief bio, a
description of your current position and a synopsis of what you would like
to share. Share internship experiences!
Have you had a co-op experience? What did you learn on your internship?
Share what you learned with other students. Give feedback to faculty and
business participants about your experience. If you would like to volunteer,
send a brief bio, a description of your internship and a synopsis of what
you would like to share. Present a talk!
Are you doing work or research in an exciting area related to computer
science or information technology? Now is your opportunity to share your
experiences with young women and inspire them. If you would like to be a
speaker, send a one-page description (abstract) of your talk. Present a
poster!
Have you worked on an interesting project at school? It's easy to do a
poster <http://www.acm.org/crossroads/xrds3-2/posters.html>. Share your
ideas and experiences with others. If you would like to volunteer, send a
one-page description (abstract) of your project or research. Encourage
students, colleagues and friends to attend and participate!
OCWIC 2005 had 102 student participants. Come and meet other women in
computing!
