</A><BR> <BR>In addition to the BCS Lovelace Medal, Karen was also named
the winner of the ACM Allen Newell Award and the ACMW Athena Lecturer award
just within the last month. </DIV>
<DIV><BR>Sadly, I just got news that Karen Spärck Jones died this
morning. </DIV>
<DIV><BR>Although she did live long enough to learn how valued her work was,
its unfortunate that she isn't with us to celebrate these
accomplishments.</DIV>
