[opensource-announce] Welcome Back: Club Meeting and Event Info

Hello everyone,

For those of you that don't already know this-- I am the new Open Source
Club president.

 Hopefully everyone has had a fantastic summer and is ready to get back to
school. Since we are only a week away from starting classes I felt it would
be best to let everyone in on what the plans are for the club.

*MEETINGS*
    The first meeting will be held on Thursday September 25th @ 7:00p in
Dreese 266. This meeting will consist mostly of getting to know each other
so if you are able to make it then you should do so since this meeting will
be really fun. We will also talk about what to expect in terms of meetings
for AU quarter along with a discussion about the club's project for the
quarter.

     To make things as simple as possible the club will meet at the same
time/place every Thursday. So all meetings are Thursday at 7p in Dreese 266,
and we will meet every week,(with the exception of finals week). You can
also check the website [opensource.cse.ohio-state.edu] to see  when we are
having meetings, and what we plan to do at the meetings. Anyone can attend
these meetings, including non-members. I'm hoping to line up presentations
for every meeting, so if you have something you think you want to present
then let me know. I already have a relatively good idea of what
presentations will be given for AU quarter, however nothing is set in stone
yet so changes can be made.

EVENTS
*    The involvement fair will be on September 22nd and the club will have a
table set up there so that we can recruit some new members.

    The club is also looking into going to the Ohio Linux Fest on Oct 11th.
Make sure you register asap if you would like to go. We are also looking
into helping out with registration and stuff at the OLF so if you don't mind
volunteering then let me know. We are in the process of trying to get a
table at the OLF, so if we are successful then we will definitely need
people to help work it.




Hopefully this information is helpful to you and I'm looking forward to
meeting some of you at the club meetings.
