Hey Peter,

I'd recommend setting up a Subversion (SVN) server.
CS&E Help Desk may be able to help you there as they at one
point hosted a SVN server. However, I'd probably go with
setting up your own on a dedicated host so that
user accounts priviledges are easier.   Most of the clients and
plugins (for Ubuntu, Linux, and other) are pretty good and allow
you to manage everything well regardless of where it is.
